It's a Man thing - Jedi Towel

This page has a fun story attached that I had to document....we bought a surfer towel for our kids to wear on the beach to keep them warm and get them dry.  My eldest was very keen on the towel as it made him look like a Jedi - it is his favourite towel and it also doubled up as a monk costume at school.

For the page I used the Tando random circles mask as a stencil and drew around it then painted in the circles with green mist.  I also had a go at embossing some of my chipboard bunting with a woodgrain folder, I started by covering the bunting with brown ink, then embossed it, then stroked some darker brown ink over the top and brushed with some golden perfect pearls.  I also used one of the arrows from the grab bag, and inked it so it was red, then added some golden perfect pearls so it glimmers in the light and sepia glossy accents over the top.  I also roughed up the edges of the chipboard with my scissors

It's a man thing - romance!

Romantic cards for men - difficult aren't they?! Steampunk is popular but if my hubby says something complimentary about one of my makes it's almost always something clean and simple so busy cogs and chains aren't ideal when I'm creating especially for him.

The shapes in the Minis range are a perfect scale and weight for card making and add some textural interest to a clean and simple design.

I gave the key here a simple treatment by colouring it silver, adding just a tiny dusting of black embossing powder for some "corrosion" detail and than paired it with a stamped sentiment and a classic black/white/splash of red colour scheme.

There are several designs in the keys minis pack so you can go simple like this or add lots to a more vintage or steampunk design as Carol did on Tuesday.
Thanks for stopping by!

Leather and Lace!

Helloooo!!! Its '3D and Alterables' this week  and I have had a play with the fabulous Hat again :D This time I have covered it with leather (so easy to glue on). I am very lucky that hubbies cousin is an upholsterer who passes me offcuts.

I painted and crackled a heart, bird, butterfly & row of flowers (also from Tando), then attached them in front of some gathered lace. The heart, bird & butterfly are on coiled wire. This was such a lot of fun to make and once again I am sad that its not human sized hahahaha!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to have a look, always appreciated, HUGS, Karen xxx

Altered paper clips with Tando

This old wooden clips was  in my stash for ages. As this week we show  you Tando altered projects, it was a good thing to alter it finally.

I used Tando birdcage, covered with white embossing powder, a small rectangle bookplate covered with a lot of paint and heat embossed all over. Then I added the bird- blue bird of our dreams and this is a cute altered project that looks great on our desk.

Hope you like my use of Tando products this week and see you soon!

Sun, Sea & Sand with Dana

Dana here today sharing a layout. I love living on the Gulf Coast!  There is never a shortage of sun, sea, sand or photos from our trips to the beach.
I covered the larger of the two anchors from the set with White Texture Effect to create a salty aged-by-the-sea look.  Once that dried I added some Distress Ink. If you'd like to pick up the anchors I used, you can find them HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sun, Sea and Sand

I created this mini theatre stage some time ago but for some reason I have never blogged it....well not that I can find anyway LOL.  I think it was featured over at Crafty Individuals so you may have seen it before.

Anyhoo, the stamps are by Crafty Individuals and I used a whole host of paste, paint, ink and a bit  of netting to finish it off.
